Abstract

Reactive CO2 capture (RCC) offers a promising pathway to directly couple carbon capture and conversion in one integrated system, avoiding energy-intensive separation steps required in conventional processes. Here, we demonstrate a proof-of-concept Microwave-Driven Reactive CO2 Capture (MDRCC) platform that integrates adsorption and methanation within a single electrified system. The single-cluster Cu metallic sites supported on Ti3C2Tx MXene (Cu1/MX) were successfully developed and adopted into the MDRCC system as a dual-functional material, enabling efficient CO2 capture and subsequent hydrogenation. Notably, Cu1/MX developed in this study achieves a favourable balance between CO2 adsorptio..
